RILEY ELF MK2 ENGINE SIZE 998cc YEAR OF MANUFACTURE 1963

NUMBER OF DOORS 2

MANUAL TRANSMISSION DRUM BRAKES ALL ROUND

COLOUR DAMASK RED/WHITEHALL BEIGE

This Elf was bought new by David's Father in 1963 for the princely sum of 601 10s 5d! Although the car has some Mk1 parts, it came with the 998cc engine making it an early Mk2. Over the years the car has received many extras and updated creature comforts. Some of the extras added were radio, fog lamps, reversing light, halogen headlights, repeater lights, heated rear window, laminated windscreen, ammeter and various instruments.

David took over the car in 1989 - prior to that the car being off the road for seven years; fortunately garaged. That winter saw David overhauling the electircal system and fitting a new water pump, brake cylinders, fan belt, battery and clutch ammeter and slave cylinders. The car was then fully serviced. Inspecting the bodywork, David found the sills and underside to be sound but the front wings and front of the car needed remedial work.

All the bodywork is original and the doors and rear panels are still in their original paintwork. The bootlid and roof, however, were resprayed.

Inside, the leather seats and carpets are all original. The original spec crossply tyres have been replaced with modern radials to improve safety and driveability. According to David, the lack of use during the winter months normally means some time spent replacing brake cylinders.

This Riley Elf Mk2 has twice won its class at the Riley Motor Club's national rally.
